CLEAN UP TIME

The North Park Neighborhood Association has met with two organizations that have offered to come and clean up used needles in our neighbourhood. The agencies both respond on a call-by-call basis, so if you find a needle in your yard, parking lot, or on the street, you can call one of these numbers and someone will be sent to clean it up.

The organizations are:
VARCS Mobile X: Monday-Friday, 9am-2:45pm. Call 888-4487
SOLID: Wednesday- Sunday, 7:30am-9:30am and 5:30pm-7:30pm. Call 298-9497.

TASTES OF THE MIDDLE EAST

On the other side of 'buying local' there is the incredible gem of a market around the corner at Mediterranean Middle Eastern Foods (924 Pandora, open daily 7am-10pm). With a huge selection of imported foods and spices from Greece, Turkey, Arabia & Persia, including nuts and dates. PLUS a deli with fresh-baked flatbreads, hummus, samosas, and more delicious cheeses than you can shake a stick at! Run, don't walk to check this treasure out!

POCKET MARKET

Want to buy fresh produce from local farmers without getting in your car? Pocket Markets are community-driven projects that bring organic and sustainable food to some surprising locations around the city. SOHO residents only need walk around the corner to the foyer of the Ministry Of Community Services at 800 Johnson Street every Tuesday between 1:30-5pm. More info on Pocket Markets, including other locations and getting involved in the project at http://www.foodroots.ca

NEW BLOG!

Welcome to the new community blog for residents of THE SOHO. We are going to focus on events and subjects of interest to our neighbors, as well as the building itself. Since this is a community board we welcome story or event submissions.
